Urban Mobility Program
Toplu Ulaşımda Çocuk (The Children in Public Transportation)
Project Period: 2021-2022
Project Partner: UN Etkiniz
The Children in Public Transportation project, supported by Etkiniz, focused on public transportation planning that remains invisible in child-friendly city discussions and neglects children's needs.
Based on the #önceçocuklarotursun campaign, which advocates for children's right to sit in public transport, the project expanded the campaign's demands and developed an approach centered on children's rights in transportation planning and design. A workshop was organized to highlight children's experiences in public transportation.
Kız Çocuk Odaklı Tasarım (Girl-Centered Design)
Project Period: 2021-2024
Project Partner: Suna's Daughters
With primary support from Suna’s Daughters and our participation in the Girl-Centered Design Support Community, we work on developing spaces, programs, and activities for and with girls, focusing on child safety and participation.
In 2023, we prepared the Girl-Centered Design Guide and conducted participation workshops in collaboration with Suna's Daughters. Workshops were organized to design spaces in a girl-focused manner at the Child Life Centers in the earthquake-affected areas, serviced by Suna’s Daughters and the Ministry of Family and Social Services. The Girl-Centered Spatial Design guidelines were implemented at the Child Life Centers established by Suna's Daughters in Pazarcık and Antakya. We continue to conduct workshop programs at Child Life Centers in Hatay, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Şanlıurfa.
Çocukların Gözünden Kent Gündemi (City Agenda Through the Eyes of Children)
Project Period: 2023
Project Partner: International Children's Center
Supported by the Micro-Grant Program of the International Children's Center, the City Agenda Through the Eyes of Children project was designed to help children aged 12-17 develop resilience against risks they encounter in digital media, discuss media content, explore ways to contribute to urban life, and present their own city agenda based on their urban observations. We organized workshops ranging from digital literacy and fact-checking to producing content focused on urban/environmental justice and observing the city to create rights-based urban news. At the end of the project, a website was created where children could share their views on urban issues and public spaces that concern them.
